A Sad Goodbye- From the Funked Up Craft Company

Hope this finds you all well.

It is with deep sadness that I have to say goodbye to Funked Up Crafts.

It was a hard decision for my family and myself to go ahead and close the doors at the craft store. Our personal life has become quite a bit busier and I was not able to give the store the time and effort it deserved. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you and I would like to express my gratitude for all of your support. I will also be saying good bye to the Face Book Group as well. I plan to keep my blog going and with hopes that I will be able to go back to posting on a more regular bases.

Please feel free to contact me via e-mail (there is a link on the side bar) if you have any questions.

I am saying goodnight for now but will be back tommorrow with a regular posting.

Thank-you all once again for all of your support....the last 3 years (how long Funked Up has been operational) has been wonderful and I feel absolutely blessed to be a part of so many crafter's lives and to have been invited to various communities in Northern Alberta. Thank-you again :)

A Perpetual Calendar

Hey there, So I kind of suck when it comes to remembering birthdays and anniversaries and so on. That is where the perpetual calendar comes in, it helps you to remember as the dates are listed by months and you would keep it somewhere handy where you would always look at it like at a family command center, a bathroom, etc :). I also combined it with a design team application to Bugaboo Stamps. I didn't make their design team but they did provide me with a free digi stamps to say "thanks for trying out". But really you should check out their design team they are uber talented and are making some wonderful projects for Bugaboo and their weekly challenges.

Hope you like it as I sure had alot of fun making it.

Go All Night Scrapbooking Fundraiser

The registration is now open for the Go All Night Scrapbooking Fundraiser. You can get all the info over on their blog Go All Night Scrapbooking Events. While you are over at their blog you may want to check out some of their past sponsors............seriously these ladies know what they are doing and doing it great. Through this fundraiser they are able to remarkably support their community and their choice of organizations to support changes year to year. I speak from past experience when I say that this has got to be the best scrapbook event going. They are real die hards up in High Level and some really do stay up all night. There are sleeping arrangements at the school so you do not have the extra expense of hotel rooms or meals. This really one of those events that shouldn't be missed. Hope I've talked you into in a bit, it would be awesome to see you there (they have also asked Funked Up Crafts to participate again this year....woot!). They also have other vendors on site so that you may have access to a wonderful variety of products. This is one scrapper that just can't wait :)

Oh my e-craft!

Okay so I haven't been blogging much lately. I have been traveling quite a bit with the store plus add one's family and you have a full plate...which I am super grateful for :) Anyways, I've been wanting an electronic cutter for quite some time and the Cricut products just blow my mind to the point of not knowing where to start, so I got the go ahead from Jeff (my wonderful & supportive hubby) to go ahead and order my birthday present....yeah! So I ordered myself the e-craft from Craftwell and I've only had a chance to play with it for a couple of hours so far and let me tell you it is fantastic.

Its very new on the market and with anything new comes some bugs, but they are working on them. I've checked out their web site and they have stated a new community, they have start up videos, as well as one called "e-craft 101". So I'll keep you posted on the e-craft and I won't be around the next few days as I am headed up to High Level for the weekend.

BFN Aboriginal Headstart Program. Proceeds will be used to pay for the students’ end of year celebration & awards.

Mini Album....All Grunged Up!

Hey there, thanks for stopping by.

So I made this mini album (which I don't usually make) this past weekend while at a crop up in Peace River (with I must say quite a few die hards....you know who you are....wink wink).

It was a blast to make with a few things I have never tried before. So please bear with me as this is a long posting. Just fire me off an e-mail if you would like to more of the details.

I have also entered this over at Crop Suey for their 1st challenge. They asked us to use at least 3 of the following 5 elements:

*white cardstock
*buttons
*stamp
*ink/mist/paint
*distressing

I am pretty sure I have used everything except for a button (which is seriously weird as I can be a bit of a button freak) You can check out their challenge blog HERE

I made this effect (above photo) on glossy white photo paper using glimmer mist and a brayer and a kissing technique that my girlfriend Stephany (Stampalicious Items and Alterations...her blog is listed on the right...she is new to blogging but I'm sure we are going to see alot of very cool techniques and projects from her).

I had the pleasure of putting the goody bags for the crop together and I had included this mini album as well as a bunch of other goodies from companies such as Graphic45 and 7 Gypsies. I'm hoping Steph will post the album made with all of the supplies that were in the goody bag.

We are so excited to be attending a fund raising crop for the Yellowhead Koinonia Christian School that is taking place on November 19th and 20th. And I must add that the ladies teaching the two classes absolutely rock! Here is their registration form with all the details:

The Christmas Crop Retreat deadline of November 2 is only a couple of weeks away! I wanted to let you know about all of the exciting things that are being planned (that you won't want to miss!):

Here are the basic details:

Dates	Friday, November 19 & Saturday November 20
General Crop Times	3 pm to 2 am on Friday (an early school dismissal day) 9 am to midnight on Saturday
Place	Yellowhead Koinonia Christian School Gymnasium
Cost	$60 for 2 days or $35 for 1 day
Classes	deadline for registration of the classes is November 2nd!! Christmas card class $25 (taught by Renée (me!)) Calendar Class $40 (taught by Sue Kushniruk)

You can come for the general crop times or just come to the classes or do both!

General Crop time details - You will receive your OWN crop table and there will be a Close To My Heart stamping station and a Stampin' Up Big Shot table set up for you to use. There will be great door prizes to win as well. Deadline for registration for the classes is November 2. Registrations for crop time will be accepted after November 2. Come and scrapbook, make Christmas gifts or work on those Christmas cards!

Phone or email one of us (contact deets are on the attached flyer) today to register! I've attached the registration form to this email which includes all the class details. Please remember to register by November 2 if you would like to attend a class!!!

Since this is a fundraiser for YKCS, we are accepting donations for the door prizes. My Completed Copic Booklet

Happy Sunday everyone. So I just thought I would share my completed Copic Swatch Book as I was finally able to complete it. I was so stumped on the background.....until you know I just got those certain colors that I "needed". I think along with most other Copic users I have become completely addicted.

I must admit that I cannot tell you which colors or even how many colors I used.

I do have a few more of the booklets in stock (and I have not listed them on the website yet). I will be completely updating the Web Store as soon as I return from Scrap 'til you Drop! We have also started to carry stamps from Totally Stampalicious and we have a few of the newer Pink Cat Studio stamps due in any day now. Celebrate You!

Hey there. Here is a card I made while I was up @ Little Smoky.

I picked up this fun stamp set at Totally Stampalicious! It's called Bubble Bath Scarlett. I colored her using my Copics and was it ever a blast.

Copics used: E000, E00, YR00, BG09, BG10, W1,C0,C1, C3, R02,R08, V09, V12, V15, YG95, YG97, RV11, RV17, RV19, RV29, E42 AND E43.

To complement the image I used the Swirls Embossing Folder on a piece of white cardstock that I had misted with Waterslide Glimmer Mist. The patterned paper used is from Upsy Daisy and the cardstock is from my stash. To make the tag that the sentiment is on I just cut a rectangular piece of cardstock and then rounded two of the corners and finished it off with a light sponging of Lulu Lavender Momento Ink.

This card was an absolute pleasure to color and put together.

Back from 4 Days of Crafting @ Little Smoky

So I arrived home safe and sound. The 4 days of crafting @ Little Smoky was a blast as always. Those girls over there are true die hards, the first night we were up until 4 am :) Anyways, here is the second card we made at the card class that I taught. It is fairly straight forward, just a couple of layers, a little bit of Glitter Ritz and a tiny bit of stamping. I will post it on the Funked Up How To Blog soon with the directions.

Its a Merry Christmas

Hey there,

So I am just posting this card to show one of the 3 cards we will be making in class this weekend up at the 4 Days of Crafting in Little Smoky.

I love this image by Kaisercraft, it it so detailed and some what classic (as I would call it). The sentiment is from another Kaisercraft set. All ink used was Memento (by Tsukineko), cardstock is by SU and the patterned paper is from a stack I picked up a couple of years ago. As you can tell there was a whole lot of sponging going on and other than that it is pretty straight forward.

I will be posting the directions on our How To Blog later in October.

So my son needed some extra storage in his locker for

some of his supplies he won't need for awhile. So I got thinking that any more school shopping would be horrid. I cam up with an idea to use one of my older craft tins that I wasn't really using.......but then thought .....oh my gosh how I am I going to make a pre-teen like this tin? Then it came to me use my Copics and the Air Brushing System. So it didn't turn out all pretty and girlie but I was able to get my soon to be 12 year old to like (and not be embarrassed to boot).

I have found the Air Brushing System to be a huge asset and the possibilities are endless what one can do with it. And would recommend it to anyone to compliment their collection of Copic Markers.

Sorry I have been neglecting the Blog but life has been crazy this summer. I will be back soon creating so please be a bit more patient. Also, I have Copic Markers back in stock and will be starting a Copic Marker Club (details coming next week). It's Fishin Time :)

Hey there. I just thought I would apologize for the inactivity that has been going on over here :( But with a full time job, the scrapbooking store, crops, kids and so on and so on, it really is hard to find time sometimes. And to add to the pile we are now fast approaching fishing season and our first fishing tournament is this weekend and then we have 2 more in June. The greatest part about this is I get some alone time with my Hubby.....and I only have to share him with a few fish and a bunch of Anglers, which after a long and busy winter season with work (Jeff worked away 95% of the winter this year...which is not so usual) is a blessing...........in disguise of a fishing tournament.

I have been busy coloring though, playing with my Copics is becoming a favorite past time when I can steal 1/2 hour here and there. I am gearing up for a Copic Marker Club..............I am planning an online group as well as in person group. When I get back next week I will post some pictures of what I have been up to.

Happy Monday or should I say Tuesday :) I hope everyone had a marvelous Mother's Day, I know that I sure did. I got the inspiration for this card from a scrapbooking magazine...it was in the form of a layout, but I loved the look of the squares/ panels so I scrap lifted away.......hehe. Anyways, I used paper from Upsy Daisy's Man About Town (1) Line, some Creme de Chocolate Glimmer Mist, Chocolate Chip Grossgrain ribbon from SU as well as the Riveting stamp set. And to finish it off I added a flower from Bazzill that I sprayed with the Glimmer Mist. It was short and sweet, mostly masculine and totally fit for my husband's Grandfather who enjoys gardening.

A Colored Birthday

Hi there, sorry for the inactivity on the blog :( I have been busy doing a bit of traveling (to crops and to Cuba). First is a photo from the Crop I attended in Mayerthorpe that was put on by the Mayerthorpe Kinettes who were raising money for Cystic Fibrosis. (This photo has the guest speaker in it as well as all the croppers that were in attendance).

This birthday card was made using a stamp from Sweet Pea Stamps (sorry I cannot remember the name of it). I used Copic markers for the coloring (R02, E000, V04, V06, V09, V12, V15, V95, B01, E33, E35, E37, E29 and of course 0 Colorless Blender). My daughter's friend loves the color purple and most times I have an issue with trying to get purple to work with me but this time it was amazing and the colors all worked so well with each other. Kayla also used a couple of stamp sets from SU. All ink used is Momento from Tsukineko as well as Versamark. There was also a bit of Prima pearls added as well as a couple of Prima flowers. And the ribbon is just from my stash - not sure of the maker. So I hope you like it and I'm sure my coloring will get better with time......and maybe a few more Copic markers :)

Fresh from a whole lotta croppin :)

Hey everyone. So I got home safe and sound from a great day of Education Eh? in Calgary where I absorbed tons of info.

Then I attended Camp Croppin with my siter, Kitreena. It was fabulous, full of croppin, classes, laughter and they gave away some great prizes too.

And then to top it all off I got to attend the Copic Certification Course taught by Shellie Siemens of sherri-cardcreme.blogspot.com. All I have to say is WOW!

(I also have to let you know that I borrowed these photos from Shellie's blog as I forgot my camera)

So I have this idea of a Copic club of sorts so while I'm gone to Cuba I'll figure out all the deets and let you know when I get home. I can't wait :)

Happy Anniversary.....Alcohol Ink style!

Hey there. I made this card for my neighbor's 14th Anniversary. I have always loved the emboss resist technique and so I thought I would try it with alcohol inks. It worked quite well, I just found that you need to make sure you wipe the ink off of the embossing quickly as you don't want it to dry on there. I used a Natural Beauty and Stem Silhouette stamp sets for this card. I did the background stamping using versamark and I used Black Momento Ink to stamp on the Butterfly (Momento ink will not run when you are you using alcohol inks - as water based ink will run when using alcohol inks). I distressed the brown cardstock by using the edge of my scissors to rough up the edges as well as used Rich Cocoa Momento Ink to smoosh the paper and to complete it I gave it a light spray with Sand Glimmer Mist. Another thing I found out is that Stampin Up's glossy paper works very well with alcohol inks. I believe that the card layout is from a sketch by Becky Fleck.

Grown up Easter Eggs

Happy Easter everyone! I had a thought to make some Easter eggs using Alcohol Inks and well let me tell you it is absolutely the best time I have ever had coloring eggs. And if I may say so myself they are stunning. Then I had an issue of what to put these gorgeous eggs into so I also made a basket (using my Scor Pal). There will be more info posted later tonight over on our "How to...." Blog

So as I mentioned last week and again yesterday that there is a new addition to Funked Up Crafts' Blog world......"How to.....with Funked Up Crafts". I plan to post tutorials there as well as answer any questions one may have. (if I'm unsure of the answer I will find it, no matter where it may be). Wedding Layout with some Glam

Hey all! This a layout I did a few nights ago when I pulled an all nighter. I used a couple colors of Glimmer Mist and a mask from Time Holtz (it is reusable and has is slightly tacky so your colors do not run under it....such a plus). While the paper was still a bit damp I used the edge of my scissors to rough up the edges as well as to add a couple of small rips so I could roll the paper a bit. I used a few Prima flowers, some wood flourishes and some brads as well as a couple of die cuts from the Slice machine. I love how this turned out and I am so happy to be getting a bunch of work done our wedding album (our 12th Anniversary is fast approaching). Oh and I used a little bit of film strip ribbon from Tim Holtz (it is proving a bit difficult to bring in....but I'll keep trying). Keep an eye out for our new blog edition starting this weekend, it will feature some eggs and some alcohol inks :)

Cherish- Wedding Layout

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you're having a great day :) So I started our wedding album some time ago (we have been married almost 12 years) and I have yet to finish it. But I am on a mission to get it complete and so I decided to do a layout tonight. It is pretty basic and I couldn't find any fru fru flowers to use so I thought I would use these flower branches from Wal-Mart (all 3 bushes were on 1 stem) and I then gave them a light spritzing with some absolutely wonderful glimmer mist and voila.....flowers that match for a nice low price.

Hi there. So this morning I was a bit short on time and needed to make my daughter her birthday card (today was her party). I really was cutting it quite close so I wanted to keep the card sweet & simple. It has a very basic layout, not too many layers or (my favorite) fluff. I used a couple of colors from SU as well as white cardstock. I then ran the white cardstock through my big shot with an embossing folder (also SU), then put the layers together. I then decided to put more emphasis on the embossed image to add a bit of ummmph using shimmer chalks (I simply just rubbed on 2 shades of pink with the tool and pom poms that come with the Pebbles Clalks), then I used Black Momento Ink for the sentiment and coupled that with clear embossing powder, added a bit of ribbon and a button w/ some floss and voila (oh, and added 3 tiny little pearls).

Did you know that you can use Momento Inks to do heat embossing? The ink is thick enough to allow the embossing powder to stick to it and yet still nice enough to stamp any image with.

Crop Across Canada Success Story!

I received a great email the other day from Bonnie, who recently organized a scrapbook fundraiser in High Level, Alberta. I was really pleased to get such great feedback! It reinforced my belief that the scrapbooking community is a fantastic community to be involved in. Not only do we have a chance to create a variety of special projects, our hobby also gives us the opportunity to connect with some wonderful and caring people. This is her story:

"There was a nice lady that read your website, from Edson, and contacted me to join us way up here in Northern Alberta to join our fundraising efforts. Our event was a success, to say the least, but the reward for many of us, was the new friend we made with the lady from Edson. Hey all. I made these invitaions the other night for my daughter's 9 th Birthday Party that is coming up this weekend. I made them 4.5" X 6" and I also made them so that there is no fold and the party info is on the back side. We went shopping in the city the other day and she picked out these super fun papers and some flowers by Prima. I added a few colors of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and also used a Tim Holtz mask. The sentiment is an oldie (from Pink Paislee I believe) another oldie is some kraft tags I have had forever (it seems), added a bit of ribbon and hemp twine, a super fun High School Musical stamp set that was "accidentally" found and a little bit of bling and voila an inviation that made a soon to be 9 year old happy :)

A Pittsburg Birthday!

Hey there. I just wanted to share this card I had made last month. My 11 year old son was attending a street hockey birthday party for his friend- who happens to be a Pittsburg Penguins fan. I stamped the penguin with Black Memento Ink and then colored it with Copic Markers, I then embossed the whole penquin with clear embossing powder. I used grey memento ink and clear embossing powder on the NHL logo. I ran the two of the layers of cardstock through the big shot machine with a circles embossing folder and gave them a thin matting. Added a bit of hemp twine and 3 mini black brads, did a little bit of popping up with dimentionals and there you have it. A Pittsburg Penguins Card through and through.

The NHL Logo set id from Gel-a-Tins. The sentiment stamp set is from SU, as well as the cardstock used.

A Little Bit of Ink and a Latte!

Hey all. So last night I decided I should start myself off with a latte (about 9pm) and headed down to my craft room. Well from there the ink just flowed, literally. I started off with some Ranger Alcohol Inks, the Ranger Applicator tool and a peice of vellum.

I found a flower template on the net and then printed it onto Vellum Cardstock, then cut it out. I then just had some fun mixing up colors and mixative and this is the wonderful and fun result. Hope you like them. I'm off to make another latte.....lol.

ps. I must add that both flowers were made from the same template, I just folded and rounded them differently. Also notice how the pink flower changed from the first image, the shape did change a bit as I had glued it down for the second photo.

Hi there, I hope everyone had a nice Valentine's Day. I know everyone in our house was happy when Jeff called to say he would be home that night (even if he did get in at 10pm).

This is a custom card I made for my sister-in-law; it uses the Stamp set from Pink Paislee's Cupid Collection as well as some patterned cardstock. I also used some glimmer mist (trust me...it definitely shimmers and it's a lot of fun to play with). I used the Slice Machine to cut out the sentiment panel (which is a rub-on from the Cupid Collection as well). I used the emboss resist technique as well as sponging on 2 different colors onto the cardstock- giving it a suede look. My aim was to create something that was elegant as well as antique-ish. I was very pleased with the look....it was something completely different for me which was nice. Hope you enjoyed your stop today :)

Serenity Prayer

I made 1 of these shadow boxes for my Brother-in-law and 1 for my sister-in-law. I thought this fitting as one lives here in Canada and the other is in Idaho; and together they would share a gift. I printed the Serenity Prayer onto white cardstock and then ran it through my Big Shot with the Top Note Die. I then used patterned paper from Upsy Daisy's Everlasting Beauty line. I hand made the flower by cutting 2 different sized flowers from the patterned paper and used a brad for the center. Other embellishments used are just from the papers- just cut out by hand and a Rich Cocoa ink pad from Tsukineko. When it was done I just popped it into this shadow frame I purchased at Michaels.

Make A wish!

Hey there, so I just love Lily the Fairy and she was absolutely perfect for this birthday card I made for our next door neighbor who turned 5. I stamped Lily with Memento Ink and then colored her with Copic Markers. I then decided to pair her with this bright and fun patterned paper I had on hand, which coordinated just nicely with the in colors from SU. I added a bit of SU ribbon and a couple of Gelly Gems and voila. (I also used the Top Note Die -from SU and used a Big Shot Machine).

Hope you liked it, I know I did as it was a great change from Christmas cards and pink cards :) - but that's just something I live with as both my kids love the color pink.

Valentine's for Ti'ana

Hey there, so I made a card kit up for my niece Ti'ana down in Idaho. She loves pink and I'm hoping she likes Kitties :) I made up 3 designs for her and her mom to make. I used the Kiki Kitty Stamp set from Pink Cat Studio and patterned paper from Pink Paislee's new Cupid collection. Other supplies used were Memento Inks and Memento Markers, light pink and white petersham ribbon. The cardstock is from WordWin and all supplies are available @ www.funkedupcrafts.com. Snow Day!

Hey there, so awhile ago I had the idea that I should make a calendar and because of the long, dull winter that I should capture one of the rarer warmer sunnier days. My daughter and her girlfriend were outside playing when I was able to capture some fun snapshots with my wonderful Christmas gift :)

I just wanted to use some non traditional holiday colors so I used these great papers from Pink Paislee - Pop Fashion Collection (also part of my vow to use up some of my existing stash). I was wanting to use a cool accent, you know the kind you always see in magazines when I quickly came to the realization that I just didn't have what I wanted soooo I made my own. I started out with 2 different sized circles and attached them together in the center with a larger sized brad (build a brad- SU) and then I just cut thin strips (making sure not to cut all the way to the center) and then gave them a slight ruffling to help add a bit more texture and voila. I also made a second coordinating page so when I want to take the calendar topper down I can just pop it into an album.

Oh, I just printed the calendar part from Microsoft Office and tore the edges to give it a more homemade feel, as well as accenting it with pearlescent chalks.

I just wanted to wish everyone a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year. I had a wonderful Christmas Eve with my husband and kids. The kids experienced their first fondue it was great, they were so excited. They got even more excited when it came to desert. Jeff decided instead of a chocolate fodue he would make a Werther's Caramel Fondue....oh my....it was soooo awesome. I believe it was the best Christmas Eve that I can ever remember.

Hope all is well this holiday season. My Brother in-law called me up one day and said that he and his son would like to make people cards for Christmas and he thought instead of just going down to Michaels he would give me a call so I could hook him up. Well I really didn't want them to create cards that looked like they just got done playschool so I created a custom kit for them. I included 1 paper kit from My Mind's Eye and added a bit of cardstock and a few pieces of ribbon and a few sample cards to help guide them. But I also used some images from Stampin Up (from my own personal stash). So here is 1 of the cards I came up with for Chris and Gavin to use.

And I must add that I think it is absolutely awesome that Chris wanted to spend time with Gavin creating these personal gifts for family and friends. Chris is a single Dad that has full custody of his Son after a long and treacherous road. Truly one of those miracles that comes directly from God.

So today I found myself in a bit of a rut and really not having a good day at all so I thought that I would just go and browse SCS for a bit and low and behold I came across today's challenge. The CAS44 challenge was to use brown, red and either white or vanilla; way cool colors right. But still in a rut I had to case a card fromSCS gallery and I don't quite remember her name, but I know I included it with my gallery posting. (I'm sorry but Thank-you very very much). Birthday Wishes

My son had a birthday party to got today and he was in the market for a card. I told him I could make him one or he could do it himself. Being his Father's son :) he opted for making it himself. So down to my craft room we went and we looked through stamps until he found this one from Third Coast Rubber Stamps. And I was mounting the stamp he passed me this piece of designer paper from The Merry Days of Christmas collection by My Mind's Eye. He then began choosing markers to color with as I stamped and mounted the sentiment (from Verve stamps).

So I'm pretty proud of him at the moment and I do know that's a bit biased but I just can't help myself.

What a Long Night....But well worth it

So I stayed up super late last night (3:30 am) so I could get this advent calendar finished for Kyle and Kayla this morning and although I am super tired this morning I think it was well worth it. And it made them both so happy this morning but it was a shame I was still in bed. Thank goodness for wonderful husbands who help so much.

Anyways the supplies for this advent calendar are somewhat minimal. I started with a piece of 12X12 Crafty Board, 1 sheet of Dark Berry Red Cardstock and the wonderful paper kit from MME: The Merry Days of Christmas. I also used a Black Momento Marker, some clear embossing powder and a few snowflakes I had left over from an earlier project. And I had to pick the tins up at Michael's

I started by adhering the cardstock to the craft board, I then cut 24 2.25" squares out of 3 different papers, next I punched out 24 scalloped circles and 24 smaller circles. (I wasn't thinking when I went into Edmonton that I would need a lot of the numbers on this project) so I traced some of the numbers and others I just did free hand and I did that right on the smaller circles I had punched out. Then I started gluing all the layers together, glued on all of the squares. Now it's ready to decorate. I used a few of the punch outs that come in the paper kit but I did clear emboss all of them and before I embossed the large ornament shape I stamped it with a couple of different snowflakes. Then I adhered all my extras I wanted to use. I also wrapped ribbon around each of the tins. All of the supplies I used are in stock @ www.funkedupcrafts.com, except the tins from Michael's.

Red and White Christmas

Today the featured stamper over at SCS is MrsBoz (who by the way has a very nice gallery) and I loved one of her cards that was white and red and used the Doodle This stamp set, so instead I changed it by using the Baroque Motifs stamp set (only because I still need more Christmas cards) and adding poinsettias.

ink: Lady Bug - Tsukineko
paper: white cs
accessories: poinsettias, crystal brads, sponge dauber, clear embossing powder

Oh I forgot to mention that you can use embossing powder with the Memento Inks from Tsukineko, no need for versamark. On this card I heat embossed the Baroque Motifs stamp with Lady Bug Memento ink and clear embossing powder then sponged Lady Bug ink over the image to achieve the desired effect. (Tsukineko)

Double Duty

So I was able to combine two challenges over a@ SCS (IC208 and LC248). The cards turned out super bright and fun. I'm still on a Christmas Card kick...I have so many yet to do and so I've been trying to mix it up a bit and not make more that 2 of any card. So I hope you think they are bright and fun too.

My Christmas Spirit

I'm enjoying getting ready for Christmas. The best part for me is now when I get to spend my efforts on others. This truly is my Christmas Spirit and I'm just so glad that it is that time of year. Focusing on others offers us a true glimpse into humility and to me that is just absolutely priceless.

I colored the wreath from Pink Cat Studio with copic markers and then continued on to emboss the whole thing with clear embossing powder (and popped it up with dimensionals). It almost resembles stained glass.....I'm quite pleased how well it turned out.

Winter Post

Wow I actually got to do a challenge, it feels great! I also made 5 Christmas Cards tonight....Yaaah! Anyways, I used Winter Post for the CC245; we were to use Chocolate Chip, Always Artichoke, Real Red and Neutral we wanted so I chose Very Vanilla and I paired this with a sentiment from Warm Words.
I used Brown Stazon as I chose to color in the skaters with watercolor crayons and a blender pen and I did a little sponging with bordering blue. I was having a vintage feel type of an evening and so I sponged all the layers with chocolate chip ink and I sprayed the image panel with a little bit of glimmer mist just to git it a bit of umph :)

Rock Star Birthday!

Hey there. So my son's favorite color is still pink and he just turned 11 today so I made this card for him. I wanted to use pink but I didn't want the card to turn out girly (I think he would have gotten a bit mad at me...lol). I think it worked because he said he was going to keep the card.

I used the Happy Everything stamp set as well as A Little Something set (both from SU). I also used all SU paper (close to cocoa, creamy caramel, cameo coral and chocolate chip); same thing for the ink. I used the argyle plaid texture plate with the big shot, did a bit of embossing and voila. Hope you like it.

Sweet to be Back!

Hey everyone, I'm back ....thank goodness. So over the summer I had a friend ask me to make a recipe book cover so I thought a canvas was in order. It was my first ever and I am quite pleased with how it turned out. I used the Herb Expressions stamp set from SU and a couple of others, a variety craft paints, inks and what have you :)

I am so sorry in the lack of inactivity my blog has seen. Life has definitely gotten alot busier. I have been in a fishing tournament with my Hubby up at Lesser Slave Lake this past weekend and I was at a totally awesome crop before that and now I am starting back at work full time for my Hubby- tomorrow morning. Hey there. I just thought I would share this birthday card that I whipped up for a friend today. Its pretty self explanatory, just a little bit of stamping, a bit of sponging, a couple layers and voila.

I am getting so super stoked about attending a crop this weekend with my best friend Jody. I get to pick her up in the city on Friday around noonish then we get to travel down to Caroline. It is so pretty there all year round (its actually on my favorite highway to drive) and you can always see the Rocky Mountains. So it should be uber fun, there are a few big names teaching some classes and there are 110 scrappers. It's gonna be so great and I'll share all the deets when I get back.

I made this page to showcase how I feel about my DH. It is also for the Scrappy Sunday challenge over on Papercraft Planet. I absolutely loved this sketch and it was so easy to work with.

I used a paper kit from Basic Grey- Marrakech, CS- Light Terra Cotta and Light Spring Green (WorldWin), assorted ribbon, copper brads and I used Mellow Moss ink from SU to ink the edges of the light spring green cardstock. Hope you like it!

Hello, hope you are all doing well today. I just thought I would share this card that a few of us, that attended the 1st crop I held, made. Its pretty basic as I wanted to keep it simple for those new to card making. So there are only a couple of layers and a bit of ribbon and we did the emboss resist technique (I think it's one of the easiest and the best for results it always produces).

The cs is from WorldWin; the dp is from Upsy Daisy Designs; the stamp set is from Pink Cat Studio; the ribbon is from Ribbon Connections; embossing powder is from Whisper's; and the ink is Momento.

Hey there. I may be boring you with another clipboard.....I'm in need of them for an upcoming crop I'm having. This one was really quite simple basically it is 3 sheets of patterned paper and a package of rub-ons :)

I created the flower up at the top with the SLICE machine and the fibres and ribbon are from unknown. The paper is from the Circle of Friends line as well as the Daisy Rubs that I used (all available at the Funked Up Crafts store)

Altered Clipboard

It all started last night when I felt like playing with my SLICE machine and began to make layered flowers. Well....the flower inspired an altered clipboard. Hope you like it :)

All designer paper is from Upsy Daisy Designs ( a Canadian company) and the flower and all the flourishes were made using the SLICE machine. I used SU chocolate chip ribbon. I cut out a couple of flowers from the dp and added a bit more color to them using Copic markers, then I popped them up with dimensional.

Hi everyone. So today I needed to get my Nephew's 10th Birthday Invitations made but before i got started I thought I would check out the challenge over at SCS and it was to use labels (WT213).....which seemed like an awesome idea to use as I needed to make 12 of the invitations.

We had Kayla's 8th birthday party late this afternoon and all went well. The kids had such a blast, we did a Webkinz theme, so there were games from Webkinz World and special drinks, cupcakes (with a candle in everyone of them for Kayla's friends to blow out too), Webkinz Seals to take home with their goody bags. My sister and niece came in from Sherwood Park and I had a couple of friends form the city come as well (One of which put on a magic show for the kids for almost an hour- it was totally awesome).

But anyways here is the birthday card I made for her using Lily the Fairy as I said I should do. I went all out and totally blinged the card up and she loved it....yeah I did something right....lol.

Just a total girls day. (Kayla actually asked for the pedicure awhile ago saying that we hadn't gone in forever and asking when we could go next. She loves getting her nails done.)

Birthday Invites!

Hey there. So my daughter's 8th birthday is next week and she wanted me to make the invitations. Normally she asks for pink but this year she asked for teal...go figure. She really helped out making these, she ran the big shot, did a little stamping (until her arm got tired), she even chalked the inside with the Shimmers Chalk from Pebbles Inc. We think they turned out pretty good, hopefully you'll like them too.

I must thank Renee @ Stamping for Sanity for teaching me how to make this type of card at our monthly stamp club :)

Happy Friday everyone. Well today I thought I should try a challenge that I don't normally do and I think it turned out okay.We were supposed to make our card in 30 minutes or less and I'm kind of a putzer so it was a stretch. I didn't quite make the time limit, I was 3 minutes over....which I think is a record for me. I used all SU paper, watercolor crayons w/ a blender pen and Stazon ink. I also used a sponge dauber and a piece of ripped paper to color the sky. The stamp set is from Third Coast Stamps- I got it free with the order I placed and I quite liked it. The ribbon and jute twine are from unknown. Hope you like it.

On another note my sister and I are planning a day crop in Edmonton on Saturday March 28Th. We are going to try Memory Maker's Slice machine out so it should be tons of fun. If your interested in attending please let me know and I will get all the info to you.

Color Challenge

I thought I would try the color challenge this week (CC208). I find the color challenges a little out of my comfort zone for some reason and I thought that it was about time to get out of my tiny little box. We were to use Pink Passion, Chocolate Chip and either Kiwi Kiss or Old Olive (I think I used Old Olive....hehe). I ordered this stamp set a few months ago (as you can see I thought it was absolutely adorable) and this is the first time it has seen ink. I forget the name of the set but I got it @ Third Coast Stamps - out of Texas. Hope you think it's adorable too. Its a pretty simple card with just a couple of layers and a bit of coloring with Copics.

I just love it when my son (who is 10) asks me to make a card for one of his friends' birthday. This time he asked for a pink and white Oilers card with a bit of black. He's so aware of the stamp sets I have, so I used this set from Gel-a-Tins that I bought a few years ago.

I used crystal effects on the Oiler's logo. It was still wet hence the cloudiness, but it turned out pretty cool. Hope you like it, Kyle sure did.

Virtual Stamp Night

Hi there, hope your weekend is good so far. I totally forgot that there was a VSN last night, but I thought I`d check out the challenge of the day and there it was and I was actually able to finish 4. And in the allotted 45 minutes per card- which is amazing for me as I kind of just putz as I go :). Anyways hope you like them.

The challenge for this card was- Bittersweet Love. We were to use a stamp set that we have bought and have not used as we don`t really care for it. The card is pretty straight forward, just stamp, cut out a couple flowers, add an eyelet and some ribbon.

This one is called- Two Hearts Beat as One. We were to use the Split Negative technique. I decided to keep the card fairly simple with only 3 colors used. I used the top note die for the chocolate chip and cameo coral paper. I added the sentiment on a piece of cameo coral that I had punched using the tag punch. Other than that I think it`s fairy self explanatory.

This challenge was called- Sketch a Little Love. We needed to use a large circle and a heart with bling. For my circle I used re-inkers and the baby wipe technique (on glossy paper). I didn`t really want my heart to be completely blinged up so I just embossed it with clear embossing powder to add some shine. Other than that I just added 3 little flowers to the heart, matted the circle and added some ribbon and a small sentiment.

This one is called- New Love. We were to use supplies that were new, that we haven`t used yet. I kind of cheated as I have had the frog images for quite some time, but the the Once Upon a Time set is definitely new. I kept this card simple. I used watercolor crayons for the coloring. I`m not quite satisfied how this one turned out, so I will probably redo it in a couple of days (I think I would pop up the large frog and not layer him on top of the sentiment).

Sorry I haven't posted in quite a few days, it's been a bout of stress, family, the weekend and a quick trip to a trade show. But I thought I should take part in a challenge to get me away from the stress part of life. This card is for the WT206 challenge- we were to use stripes on our project. So I opted for this patterned paper from SU for my stripes. I also thought the ribbon added the illusion of stripes as well.

Stamps: Living Large, Delight in Life, also a large wheel from SU (forget the name of it)
Paper: WW, Purely Pomegranate, Pink Pirouette- SU
DP: SU - retired I believe
Ink: Purely Pomegranate, Pink Pirouette- SU; Tuxedo Black- Memento; Copic Markers
Ribbon- unknown

Because I have not yet bought the scallop punch yet I used the corner rounder punch from SU to create the scalloped edge. I then layered the dp onto it. I stamped off purely pomegranate ink before I stamped the flower onto the pink pirouette paper and then steamed again before re inking the stamp. I colored the main image with copic markers, then matted the 2 pieces with purely pomegranate cs, the wrapped 3 different colors of ribbon around the larger piece before attaching the image on with dimensional s to pop it up a bit. Before I glued anything onto the WW cs I used a large wheel from SU and pink pirouette ink to make a background pattern on the card.

Hopefully that somewhat made sense.

Hey there, so last night I actually went to bed at a "normal" time, about 11pm, but then I tossed and turned and listened to my DH snore, so then I finally got out of bed for the simple fact that I hadn't slept a wink yet (at about 2:30am). So then I came down to my "happy place" and decided to make this for the SC215 challenge.

stamp: Enjoy Every Moment

CS: Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip and Certainly Celery

DP: Upsy Daisy Designs

ink: Certainly Celery, Close to Cocoa and Chocolate Chip Craft

ribbon: Chocolate Chip Grosgrain (1" ish)

accessories: brad, button, jute twine - all unknown

This is a pretty straight forward and simple card. I used 2 of the smaller stamps in the set, inked them up with Certainly Celery and then just randomly stamped them. I then stamped enjoy in Chocolate Chip Craft Ink, next I just matted it onto a piece of Certainly Celery CS, then placed the green brad where the dot is above the j. I tied the black jute twine through the button holes and placed adhered it in the o with a zot. I also stamped the card base the same 2 smaller stamps in Close to Cocoa, oh and I also "smooshed" the card base with the Close to Cocoa as well. I then matted the 2 DP's onto Chocolate Chip CS and then I just wrapped the ribbon around the piece with the striped paper, then just stuck them in place ( I used dimentionals to pop up the sentiment) and dunzzo.

Hope you like it, I think I did okay since this is another set that has been inked up for the first time, even though I've had it for like ever :)

Hey there. I made this card for the FS105 challenge. The featured stamper this week is Karen Dunbrook and wow does she ever have an amazing gallery, it was hard to pick just one to use. But in any case I chose this card of Karen's to case.

And here is my case of her card. I also used the faux linen technique.

I made the card for Ashley, that works for my hubby, as her Grand father passed away last week. So I'm going to hand deliver it in the morning with some flowers to hopefully brighten her day a bit.

I really tried to make more of a masculine card because that is what I seem to be a bit low on.

Hi there. I made this card for the SC214 challenge, I totally loved this sketch- it was so easy to work with and I love the layers. The theme of the card was inspired by my sister's birthday (she passed away quite a few years ago), she always inspired me to be the best that I could be and she still continues to do so.

My Stampin Up Demo (Renee @ Stamping for Sanity) taught us the 'Resist Emboss' technique at our last stamp club meeting. Its so simple to do yet the results are fantastic. I'm guessing that you could probably find a tutorial over at SCS.

Hi everyone, hope you're doing well. I'm doing pretty good, a bit tired...I've been keeping some really late hours loading products onto the website....It's almost up :). I'm getting so excited.

I needed a bit of a break from the computer so I thought I would check out the Wednesday SC challenge (SC213) and here is the card I came up with. Hope you like it.

All products used were Stampin Up except 1 small green gem and the navy ribbon. This card also qualifies for a little challenge our Stamp Club (Thanks to Renee..our awesome SU Demo). Last month we had an embellishment swap and we are to make a project for our next club meet that uses at least one of the embellishments we were given.

So I talked to the Apple store today (about my iMac computer) and they said that I have a faulty hard drive and they were wanting to know if I wanted them to try to retrieve my data. So I have them doing that and I think when I go to pick it up when its done I will go ahead and buy a back-up external hard drive to hopefully prevent this in the future.

I will definitely be back with happy creations on my next post.

So I will probably be a little quiet for a few days. My main computer is totally down, I took it into Edmonton earlier today. They think they will have to replace parts so it'll be 3- 5 business days. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed and I will try to keep up using my laptop.

And with luck on my side I won't miss a beat on building the website. I actually upload all the pictures of products onto the server yesterday. WooHoo. Oh, did I mention that I went to IKEA to cheer myself up? I got some really cool storage for my Copics :).

This morning I was working away on the Web Site when I ran into a roadblock. When people would go to process their orders and pay it wouldn't bring up the Canadian Provinces....which would have been a huge huge bummer. Good news is that it was a simple adjustment but it will take up to 48 hours to come into effect and well it let me craft another card. Thank goodness that there's always an upside.

Once again I was inspired by a challenge, well actually two. They seem to get me going time and time againSo this card is for challenge WT202 @ SCS and one at Cindy Haffner's blog (I believe it's for MFT Stamps) MFTSC 65. I used the MFT layout and the Ways to Use it over at SCS.

So I checked out the Sketch Challenge at SCS and loved the sketch so I stayed up super late to make this and I love how it turned out. And have I mentioned that I am soooo grateful that Christmas Card season (for me) is over...lol.

I colored the flower with watercolor crayons and when it was dry I covered it in VersaMark and the SU's Clear Embossing powder- I love how it gave the colors a punch. I punched 2 flowers out using the 5 petal punch from SU and also embossed the pair with clear embossing powder. I added a bit of ribbon and there you have it.

What a great start to the week. So I was busy downloading photos for the website when suddenly I realized what I need to do to fix the card with the bookmark. So I pulled it apart, added some layers and some patterned paper, a little bit of ribbon and 3 punched flowers and then I was satisfied...hope you like it more than the previous.

Oh What a Night...lol

Last night I got together with Renee to do a couple of challenges for VSN so it became a bit of a late night. But I am realizing I like to create slowly and not so much for being on a timed schedule. But I did have lot of fun.

So for this first card I used Crazy for Cupcakes - SU Chocolate Chip CS- SU, Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon- SU, Copic Markers, Fun Flock and 2 other companies' patterned paper. I stamped 2 cupcakes and cut out just the top of the one, I then colored both, added fun flock to the sprinkles on the one that was cut out, I then popped it up on dimentionals. The matted squares are 3" X 3" and the inner squares are 1/8" smaller. I hope you like it....I had a lot of fun making this one (it was also my 1st time ever using Fun Flock).

This card was for the scraplings challenge and so Renee and I came up with the idea of a bookmark, so my main image is actually removable so it may be used as a bookmark. The image is Isabelle Paper Doll- MFT (I totally loved this set- so I think I gotta get it...lol).

I did struggle with trying to get this card just right- so I plan to play with it a little later...so I'll show you what I come up with then. Hopefully it's just right then :)

SCS Challenge Card

Hi there, so I stayed up super late to get this card done for the challenge because I don't think I get another chance to complete it ( a trip to the dentist....yippeee). I used WorldWin cardstock- Deep Chocolate Malt, white; DP is from Upsy Daisy Designs (a Canadian Company) - Devoted from the Everlasting Beauty line. Ink- Brilliance- Pearl Crimson and the ribbon is from Ribbon connections (I'm going to call it chocolate/champagne- as it is double sided). I learned how to make this ribbon flower embellishment t a SU Convention that my Girl fiend (Renee @ Stampin for Sanity) took me to back in October 2008...I thought it was the easiest greatest thing ever, so I hope you like it.

I will be selling all the products that I used here on my web site (upload date is February 1st, 2009), so I hope you'll stop by again soon.

Lily and Billy- Sneak Peaks are out

Happy Tuesday everyone. Pink Cat Studios have started their sneak peaks for their 2 new stamp sets being released on Thursday, January 15 th.. They have also posted a contest featuring Lily the Fairy from one of their new lines.

I made this card featuring Lily for their contest. I used the Lily image provided and colored her with Copic markers. I also used 2 stamp set from SU- Pick a Petal and Doodle This. The white CS is from WorldWin (which worked with the Copics really well). I used 2 SU CS- Perfect Plum and Pale Plum. The other SU products used were the small oval punch and the word window punch as well as Perfect Plum ink. To finish the card I pierced around 3 of the corners and adhered the word window strips with purple brads (unknown).

So I made this card for SC210, I'm really happy how it turned out. I did give the card to my Hubby and I think it cheered him up a little, he woke me up to say thank-you. Later I think I'm going to work on a card that isn't for a challenge. I got some new stamps in so maybe I can ink them up.

I used all SU paper- Aways Artichoke, Mellow Moss and River Rock

Ink- Brilliance- Pearl Crimson; Memento- Black Tuxedo; Copic Markers

SU Stamps- Always & Warm Words

Beads- Hubby's fishing supplies :)

Ribbon- unknown

Pearl- Hodgepodge Hardware by SU

Flowers- Making Memories

I made this card for TLC202....Tacky Glitter. I used all SU supplies except for the unknown ribbon and Copics that I used to color the butterfly. I used River Rock, Blue Bayou and Soft Sky ink (as well as papers), SU brads, SU Chunky Glitter. I hope you like and TFL
